Suck Responsibly
A review of Final Straw; A portable, collapsable straw that’s the last straw you’ll ever need.
Americans use enough straws to wrap around the earth 2.5 times per day. And if you’re a typical American, you use about 16 straws daily. Think about it. Every time you order a cold drink from your favorite coffee shop, convenience store, or take-out joint, it comes with a disposable straw.
According to scientists, up to 8.3 billion plastic straws are lying around the world’s coastlines. Final Straw is a start-up with a solution. They’re the original creators of a foldable and reusable straw. Here’s how they outline the problem with disposable straws on their website: “Because they’re so lightweight, straws can blow into our waterways, land in the ocean, and cause harm to wildlife. Plastic straws aren’t biodegradable, so they lead to long-term pollution of our land and oceans.”
How I Discovered Final Straw
I first heard of Final Straw while listening to NPR’s podcast “How I Built This.” “How I Built This” features successful entrepreneurs whose ventures have made it to the big-leagues. It highlights the hurdles they faced and the successes they enjoyed on the road to entrepreneurial prosperity.
