Hi Michael,
Thank you for your questions. I’ll update the article in case others are wondering the same thing.
The primary image in the article is a cake with fully ripened mushrooms that are ready for harvest.
Dosage is challenging for me to recommend since It depends on your size and sensitivity level. I’ve never needed more than 1–2 mushrooms. One mushroom can pack a punch, so proceed with caution. It’s best to start with a small amount. You can always take another dose if you didn’t get the desired effect.
2–3 birthing cakes should yield plenty of mushrooms for a couple. But one spore syringe will innoculate 10 jars, which will produce 10 birthing cakes. If you only innoculate 2–3 jars, you’ll have spores left.
The spores will stay viable for 8–12 months, but dried mushrooms can last for years. It may be easier to do all 10 jars at once, so you don’t end up wasting your spores.
Birthing cakes only yield mushrooms once. Once you harvest your mushrooms, you discard the cake; they make great compost.
Mushrooms can be dried and stored in an air-tight container in a cool, dark place.
I hope this answered your questions, Michael. Thank you for engaging.
